October software release notes

Release Notes

New features

  • Amazon Signage Stick: In partnership with Amazon, we are glad to support the new Amazon Signage Stick, which brings Amazon standards in digital signage. Yodeck was selected as one of the default CMSs for the Signage Stick, and we plan to ensure comprehensive functionality for every feature that Amazon will introduce with this new device. The Signage Stick is available only in the US and will be released in the EU soon. To set up the new Amazon device, select the FireOS Player Type as you do for the other Amazon FireOS devices.
  • Yodeck for Raspberry Pi 5: Yodeck now officially supports the Raspberry Pi 5. You can find the Yodeck image for the RPi5 and more details about it in the documentation. Additionally, you can read why we decided to keep RPi 4 as the default Yodeck Player.
  • Yodeck API – New functionalities: The following functionalities have been added to the Yodeck API:
    • Upload Files: Upload locally stored files to our portal.
    • Screen Takeover: Display your preferred content on a set of predefined screens without changing their scheduled content.
    • Trigger Emergency Alerts: Use external conditions to trigger emergency alerts automatically outside the portal.
    • View Users and Group Lists: Get all the information on users and user groups directly in your internal use tools.
  • For detailed instructions, visit our API documentation.

Improvements

  • Team Celebrations App – Upcoming Celebrations (Weekly, Monthly): Easily display upcoming team celebrations by choosing to show events weekly or monthly. Select your preferred view in the form, and you’re ready!
  • Team Celebrations App – Improvements: We’ve streamlined the Team Celebrations workflow, enhanced the upload process, and added the option to download an Excel (.xlsx) file directly from the form for a smoother setup experience.
  • MS Service Principal for Power BI: We’ve introduced a new authentication method for securely connecting to Power BI via MS Azure’s service principal. This approach links authentication tokens to a registered app in MS Azure rather than individual user accounts, reducing disruptions from role changes and extending token validity to minimize re-authorizations.
  • Playlist Folder View 2.0:
The playlist folder view is now optimized for playlists with lots of content and bulk actions from your side. In addition to vastly improving its look and feel, we’ve introduced pagination, improved search options, and the ability to understand which items already exist in a playlist without manually reviewing it.
